About Stef

Dog On Life started as Dog on Adventures, a dog walking service based here in Central Otago, back in 2022. As my skills grew I saw a need to develop a wider range of services that reflect my holistic care for our pets and it’s a dream to offer a balanced range of services to help our pets truly thrive rather than just survive.

I’m Stef, I’m based in rural Alexandra, Central Otago and have my own growing family of beautiful working/race Alaskan Huskies. My first dog Zip who returned to NZ with me several years ago was the inspiration for my journey and as she heads into her senior years she comes out almost everyday no matter what we are doing and you would never know her age.

My years working with sled dogs has also shaped my approach to working with and caring for dogs. Knowing dogs who have achieved absolute canine greatness, finishing races such as the Iditarod (sled dog race) and the Yukon quest showcases how good nutrition, appropriate exercise and regular body work can help dogs to thrive into their senior years.

Before solidifying a place in our dogs world I spent many years working in kitchens around the world. As a qualified chef I have a vast knowledge of food and it was natural to consider what we feed our dogs, which lead to more study. This time canine nutrition to fully understand the science behind how real food can nourish and fuel your dogs body, often preventing diseases and allergies.

Becoming certified in canine nutrition (and biology), canine first aid and canine massage therapy has allowed me to give my working dogs and my clients dogs, a balanced foundation of care. The overall well-being of our dogs is first and foremost my priority and I am continuously learning how to benefit and improve our furry friends lives.

Tevie's Favourite Human is Stef from Dog On Life/Adventure. If dogs could write reviews, Tevie would be first in line to sing Stef's praises.

Tevie isn't your average dog; she's got a discerning taste when it comes to canine companions. So, when Stef introduced her to her pack, it was no small feat. With patience, understanding, and a whole lot of love, Stef made Tevie feel like part of the family. Now, Tevie can't wait for her pack adventures with Stef, and I often wonder if she loves Stef more than me!

Stef's dedication doesn't stop at walks. She's been a guiding light in Tevie's journey to recovery from a cruciate injury, offering expert massage therapy and tailored nutrition advice. It's clear that Stef doesn't just care for dogs—she nurtures them, body and soul.

If you're looking for someone who treats your dog like their own, Stef is the one. We're incredibly lucky to have found her, and anyone would be fortunate to have Stef care for their furry friend.
